We believe AI should be person-centred and create a more connected system of support for workers, participants and their families.

With Minikai every person gets their own Mini: an AI advocate with a holistic understanding of their needs and history.

Minikai was founded in Melbourne in 2024 by Keoki Alexander-Chang, Ky Shera-Jones and Freddie Hedegaard, and the reason is personal for all three. Each has family members who rely on government supports, and each has watched those family members struggle not with the care itself but with the admin surrounding it: the paperwork, the plan reviews, the retelling of the same story to every new coordinator and provider. The supports existed, but the burden of navigating them kept getting in the way of actually receiving them.

At the same time, the co-founders had spent their careers on the country's largest regulatory incident responses and government infrastructure transformations, work that put them at the forefront of AI and unstructured data. The two experiences pointed to the same conclusion. If AI could do the admin, people like their family members could access the support they need and thrive.
